DC Digest 3 It’s spring… FINALLY!  Spring is such a great time of the year, well, except for the pollen.  Flowers blooming, birds… bees… warmer weather, more sunshine… ahhh, it’s great!  And like most things we really enjoy, they don’t often come without painful obstacles that need our attention.  This year, it’s the largest and most complicated it has ever been… COVID-19. While the entire world is combating the outbreak, it’s important to still recognize those very small things that mean so much to us.  For me, it’s the sunshine… light breezes and birds chirping.  It’s very relaxing and a reminder that life renews.  Allow me to be cliché intentionally, this too shall pass, and we are all in it together.  To me, this is no doubt… a war against an invisible enemy. Like any war, there are good guys and bad guys… and in order to be victorious, prudent leaders build, communicate and enforce a strategy for success.  There will be many battles, some proactive, some reactive… some won, some lost.  But we must move on, for the war is still being fought. Each of us are fighting our own battles, with our own strategies that start right in our homes… and this likely brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘Spring Cleaning’.  It’s not fun, but if we do things right, we can minimize the effect this time period will have on us.  Likewise, the same for our work environments… and for most people, these two worlds now coexist. Businesses are part of the war as well.  They will have their own strategies… their own battles.  Some won, some lost. There is often a lot of quiet time during wars, which can be terrifying… at home, we try to take advantage of the quiet by doing things around the house, playing games, reading, or maybe binge-watching your favorite streaming platform. What do businesses do during the quiet times?  How can we find the good in all this madness? If I were caught in a gun battle… and thankfully that has never happened, but if I were, the first thing I would do when the shooting stopped would be reload my weapon.  Not because I want to keep firing away, but in case I have to… take advantage of the quiet and get ready for what lies next. During this time many businesses will have more free time on their hands then they ever imagined.  Don’t just wait it out… Win the battle and the war, so that when this is all behind us, we are better, stronger, more efficient than ever!  Reload, and be ready for what lies next. How can we help you strategize?  We are ready to fight right along with you for the long haul and win this war together! Shawn Dorward Practice Manager
