Like many small businesses, my local gym recently began offering services online. The gym owners have created Facebook groups, live-streamed workouts, launched a book club, and even hosted a weekly happy hour. Like so many have discovered over the last few months, maintaining a sense of community without being face-to-face is challenging. Each morning, my favorite trainer shares three things she is grateful for and encourages members to respond with their own list. At first, I disregarded these posts; it seemed too sunny a habit for a grump like me. Yet as I engaged, I noticed two things: that thinking of a few simple things I was grateful for did change my outlook on the day, and that reading others’ gave me more insight into their personalities, lives, and dreams. Each gratitude list is simply an invitation to connect. As more businesses allow employees to work from home for the foreseeable future, leaders are wondering how they will maintain the sense of community that comes naturally from being together physically. Because our team here at sa.global is scattered around the US, we have been dealing with this challenge for a while. We have not perfected it, but we have learned to be intentional in making time for “water-cooler chatter”; we share photos from our long Memorial Day weekends; and we sign digital birthday cards. After 73 days and counting of stay-at-home orders, I have learned a lot about my gym friends and felt supported and engaged by our little community. Soon enough, we will all be back together, love-hating our trainers and cheering each other on. For that, I am grateful. Marjorie Schmeerbauch, Practice Manager – Finance and Operations/AX— In the January edition of the DC Digest, we first announced a plan to deliver a comprehensive payment solution for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. Over the last several months, CTO Jake Roder has worked with our partners at Century Business Solutions to design and implement a streamlined solution that looks and feels native to F&O and has robust functionality to reduce overhead costs related to managing credit cards. This integration uses Century’s proprietary payment gateway, EBizCharge, to process credit cards, including authorizations, captures, voids, and credits. EBizCharge substantially reduces processing costs by passing line-item details and invoice information automatically to a PCI-compliant payment gateway. In day to day operations, this tool allows sales personnel to authorize and view authorization history directly on the sales order. When that sales order is invoiced, the amount is captured, and a payment journal is automatically created and posted. For customers who choose to pay with a credit card after an order is invoiced, a credit card can be selected in the customer payment journal. Voids are also standard functionality. All transactions are recorded within F&O, with an unlimited transaction/batch history for viewing and reporting purposes. In addition to the power within F&O, EBizCharge provides a customer portal where customers can select open invoices and enter credit card details for payment. A mobile application is also available for iOS and Android devices. EBizCharge also has integrations to Dynamics Business Central, GP, and CRM.
