New Perspective
If you are like me, you are seeing that the temperatures are cooling off and you are probably wondering where did the summer go? Early this spring, I was dreaming of getting back to normal after the previous 12 months of COVID. However, now with the recent renewed concerns about COVID, I’m disappointed that the dream of “Normal” is still a way off into the future. I guess I will just need to be a bit more patient.
To add to that, I live in the West which is struggling through the worst drought in over 20 years. Drought makes everything terribly dry and brings wildfires. Wildfires are raging out of control and as of writing there are over 730 fires that are not under control in the western states. West Coast fires are blowing toxic air into Utah which is my home. Air quality has been terrible. Eyes burn, throat chokes, lungs hurt – you don’t even want to go outside. Whether it is COVID, toxic smoke or other world events, it just seems like negativity and darkness is in the air more than normal.
An instant cure for that darkness is a new perspective based on gratitude. I’m truly thankful for my home, my health, a great family, and a rewarding career in technology. I get to wake up every day, play with cool technology and help companies grow. Maybe I’m a geek (well, I guess I am) but I really think that is cool and I’m very grateful that I get to do it.
My message for today is around Digital Transformation. I know it seems like it is an over-used marketing buzzword, however it is real and happening now. We are still in the first 100 years of the digital revolution, and believe it or not, real Digital Transformation (DX) started only a few years ago in the 2010s. Here is a great infographic of History of Digital Transformation.
Face it, the way that we live, and work has changed. We now live in a new remote everything world which has brought new challenges, and with new challenges will come new opportunities. All indication show that this new “Remote First” perspective is the new normal and life not going completely back to our pre-COVID lifestyle.
Some Companies are trying to hang on, to handle these disruptions, navigate the changes and survive. However, to thrive, corporations need to develop new skills and capabilities. DX is about reimagining how you bring together people, data, and processes to create value for your customers and maintain a competitive advantage in a digital-first world. DX initiatives are often broken down into 4 categories:
- Engage Customers
- Empower Employees
- Transform Products
- Optimize Operations
According to Rita McGrath, to succeed going forward, corporations must be flexible and adaptive and to realize growth, corporations will be required to continuously reshape their businesses to shifting markets – this is exactly where DX can help. If you are new to DX, I would encourage you to Learn about digital transformation. If you have been around DX for a while, take a fresh look there is still more to know.
As your digital partner of choice we welcome the opportunity talk with you, to be of service, better understand your business, and help guide and support you on your DX journey. My mantra for 2021 is “Be Human, show Gratitude and get Creative” – those are the three things that are driving me for 2021. I look forward to speaking with each and every one of you.
